Natural Hair & Health Expo '16

The 2016 Natural Hair and Health Expo took place in Birmingham, AL on last Saturday March 12, 2016. This was my very first big natural hair event as a  two year natural gal. It was exciting to see the celebrity guests and hear and learn about their experiences with natural hair. I learned about new products, I saw really cool natural hair inspired t'shirts, jewelry, turbans and eye wear accessories. The day was full of events from 10am-6pm some of them included: Fashion Show, musical guest Vivian Green, Men & Women panel, Q&A segment and the first Natural Hair Pageant. All sponsored by Visions Beauty Distributors

One of my souvenirs from the event and yes, Natural girls do rock!
Here from left to right is myself and my sister. This was a perfect event for the both of us, I am now two-years natural and I loved flaunting my beautiful natural curls (my hair is healthy & growing). My sister is a hair stylist, most of her clients are natural. This event was good for her to hear about new techniques and products to use. It also was a good opportunity to help expand her clientele in the work place.

Here is a photo of the schedule of the eventFULL day!

Naturalistas +MahoganyCurls  and +Taren Guy  both had their own panel or presentation. They told their story about their natural hair journey and details about what products they use. Later, that day Mahogany Curls was one of the judges for the Natural Hair Pageant. You can follow both of their social media pages to learn more.

NATURAL HAIR PAGEANT

I really enjoyed the first natural hair pageant. There were a total of 9 contestants that participated this year each woman having their own unique story coming from different walks of life. The pageant was set up very creatively giving a unique introduction of each woman coming out in different styles of green dresses displaying their personalities. Next they told us who they were individually and why they started their natural hair journey. Finally, the evening wear part of the show (my favorite part) each woman wore beautiful gowns as the judges randomly asked a question for each contestant, to properly judge which person was most befitting for the crown.

I enjoyed myself and I bought a natural hair t'shirt as a souvenir. There were so many different styles to choose from, but this one stood out to me! It's unique spelling out the word "natural" using the style of the Scrabble board game. I love the fit and the chocolate color! Overall this was a fun event to attend, I would definitely like to go again.
