You Are Worthy

Mantra: You are not defined by likes on social media. You are beautiful with or without outside validation. (written by me)

Social media networks are a huge giant in our society today. We constantly use them throughout the day all day. Whether it’s Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, or my all time favorite platform Instagram they get our time. It has become a distraction. We have around the clock access from a little device called smartphone. It can become a place where we feed off of constant validation or gratification. And if we don’t get it we feel less than. Social media can cause anxiety, depression, comparison, and worse envy. It has become a place where highlight reels are praised and if you’re not sharing anything then you must not have accomplished much. It’s too much. I remember when social media was fun. I love to create just for the sake of creating. Nowadays it’s a popularity contest. Oh and let’s not forget about likes, shares, and followers. If you don’t have a 100+ likes then you or your post isn’t valid. You get overlooked. The same with followers. If you don’t have thousands of followers you’re lame. And there’s this thing called an algorithm that has completely changed the way we view posts.

I honestly believe it is necessary to take healthy social media breaks for the sake of our mental health. Set boundaries for yourself. I am here to remind you that no matter how you or your posts are received on social media you are worthy. Likes do not define your worth. It matters what you think of yourself first. The real work starts from within. It takes bravery to share your business with friends, family, and complete strangers. Most people only share the good parts aka highlight reels of their life. They rarely share the ugly parts. So never compare your life’s journey with others. Comparison is the thief of joy. Love you for you. Loving yourself takes work! And that work is done offline.**

The picture above is a photo of me. I used my iPhone 12 Pro and the self-timer. This idea was spur of the moment. The dress I’m wearing is from Zara.  I am standing against a white wall. The sequin material of the dress shines giving you black girl magic.
