Art. Beats. Lyrics. + Jack Daniels

Art Beats and Lyrics is an art show that tours to different cities combining both worlds of art + music presented by Jack Daniel's Tennessee Honey and Gentlemen Jack. It originated in Atlanta, GA and started as a small art show. Over time it has become one of the largest and most popular tours of its time. Currently in its 11th year the popular tour made a stop to my hometown Birmingham, Al where I got my first experience of amazingly creative art work, with good music and positive vibes to go around.

ART WORK

Created by the very talented Miya Bailey : based in Atlanta, GA he is a successful tattoo artist. This was the very first painting that I saw for the night! So beautiful, what a way to get the night started, right?

Created by: Mr. Soul & Craig "Flux" Singleton
Since this painting adds music to it with the radio and cassette tape detailing. I have to mention the incredible 90s mix and early 2000s hip hop music the DJ played all night! So fun and definitely took me down memory lane.

Created by: Kazilla  This has to be one of my favorites of the night. So creative.

Music gems: Lauryn Hill and Common|Photography: Carolyn Grady of +Carolyn Grady RhythmicImages

Back in the 90s Lauryn Hill was known as one of the most prominent lyricist and singers during this time. She started in the successful hip hop group The Fugees and later made a solo record "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill" that won her a total of 5 Grammys. I still listen to this album til this day!
I miss her in music, definitely one of the greats.

Atlanta

I got all excited when I created this post and left out this great image-collage of Atlanta hip hop paying homage to the different artists that got their start in this city. Since this art show originated in Atlanta I definitely wanted to add this to my post! Very creative.

My Style

When I thought of an Art and Lyric event...I automatically thought of street style, to be more specific I thought of a 90s type of street style look. So I went with a oversized styled jacket the color is olive green (this color is wildly trending by the way) a mustard crop top and gray mid waist jeans. I did a little bit of a color blocking trend here and I evened the look out with my brown military style boots. I can't forget about my cute matching clutch. Shopped at Forever 21 for this look.

Experience
I'm so happy that Birmingham is putting on bigger and more creative events like this one. The city is growing and the crowd last night blew me away it was definitely packed on both sides of the event space. I'm thinking way over 100 people attended. It was cool seeing familiar faces and seeing new people as well. The event was held at the newly built Regions Field.
